NOCout Report: Scam Calls

by Jon Lober | NOC Technology

Real stories: get real IT services.

Have you ever received a suspicious phone call offering you IT support services for an (unbelievably) low fee? This week, one of our corporate clients reached out to us after receiving a concerning call from someone claiming to represent an IT company. The phony IT service provider was offering lifetime IT services from their US-based company for only $500!

Fortunately, our client did the right thing. She reached out to a knowledgeable friend to discuss an offer that seemed too good to be true.

Another client went as far as to take down all of a phony IT company’s information before passing it along to us. Then she turned the tables on the scammers by keeping them on the line for two hours while she went about her day! Some quick research by our team revealed a laughable website and an overseas address—red flags revealing the work of half-hearted scammers.

Just remember, nearly any offer that seems too good to be true… probably is. Always take the time to check in with a trustworthy, objective third party before moving forward with suspicious offers.
